Fluid-Bed Processor — typical specifications
Below are ready-to-use images (above) and a concise, industry-typical specification sheet you can copy into documents or use to compare models. Specs below are representative ranges — exact numbers vary by manufacturer and model.
What it is (short)
A fluid-bed processor (FBP) fluidizes powder with heated air to perform drying, granulation (top or bottom spray), coating (Wurster), pelletizing and related batch/R&D tasks under cGMP design.
Typical technical specifications (representative)
Construction & materials
Wetted parts: SS-316L (or SS-304 for some models), mirror-polished internals. Thickness commonly 3 mm for housing panels.
Batch / capacity
R&D / lab: 50 g → ~6 kg (small lab units).
Production: common batch weights at 25 kg, 60 kg, 115 kg, 225 kg, up to several hundred kg — some systems scale to 900+ kg per batch.
Blower power: commonly 5–20 HP for mid-range units (scales up with capacity).
Heater load (examples): 18 kW, 36 kW, 60 kW (larger models higher). Steam or electric heating options possible.
Inlet air flow / free air flow: ~300– several thousand m³/hr depending on size.
Process utilities
Steam consumption: example ranges 25–240 kg/hr depending on size/model (if steam-heated).
Filtration & GMP
HEPA final exhaust filtration, multi-stage prefilters, cGMP design, easy filter replacement and cleaning-in-place (CIP) options available. Explosion-protection options for solvent processes.
Granulation / coating features
Top spray and bottom spray modes; Wurster insert for core coating; spray guns, peristaltic pumps for binder/coat addition; atomizing air and formulation feed controls.
Vertical footprint with tall expansion chamber — floor space varies with ancillary equipment (inlet air heater, cyclone/separator, dust collector, formulation tanks). Mobile product containers/trolleys often included.
